christmas foliage

One hour! That's all the time left for the current challenge at Make My Monday! How's this for a quickie card?
~ Ü ~

The kids & I just came back from a lovely week spent at my parents'. It's the year-end school holidays and that was the only week we could squeeze in for some time away.

Anyway . . . flowers, foliage or snowflakes! Considering the limited time there is, (and that I have to do it quietly), I turned to my ever-faithful big shot for this card. The base is embossed with a papermania folder and the greenery is made up of a jumble of sizzix die-cuts in various shades. All topped off with a red sb fancy tag and gold peel-off sentiment. The background and leaves have been edged in forest moss DI, and the tag in fired brick & vintage photo.

Also playing at the challenges at Christmas Inspirations, The Paper Shelter & Papercraft Star.

white christmas

Morning! I have a CAS white Christmas card to show today.
~ Ü ~

This card is made white on white for The Crafty Pad
And there's a challenge blog I just came across - UnstampaBelles Challenges - no stamps! My kind of challenge! The current challenge is "trees", with a bonus technique using punches/dies.
My tree is cut from a sizzix die, highlighted with paper pen & gel dots, and topped with a transparent gem.

The Make My Monday challenge this week is a CAS Christmas Card with emphasis on the sentiment. I'm using a peel-off for that. I ran white paint over the gold sentiment to mute it for the white ensemble. But retained enough colour for it to still stand out. It sits on a die cut fancy tag.
The main elements sit on an embossed panel, and although it's not obvious here, the whole thing has been given a shimmer with misting.

Also linking up at The Pink Elephant (TPE 125 embossing), Lollipop Crafts (embossing & no designer paper) and Creative Craft Challenges (minimalist).

number on tag

I really have to stop this last minute entries . . .
~ Ü ~

This tag started off with the challenge at Try it on Tuesday. Use peel-offs with a wonderful technique on a tag. Not sure about the wonderful part, but this is a first for me. Creating a background with border peel-offs,
as opposed to using it as a border.
~ Ü ~

I'm sure there's something wrong with this batch of embossing powder. It's more granule-y than powdery. I've had a hard time using it with stamped images, so I thought I'd try it with tape, instead. Yay, it works! I just got this tape a few weeks ago, and have been itching to try it out!
I combined these glittery stripes with border peel-offs
to create a base for the tag.

The main body of this tag is embossed pink scrap. Time was running short, so I just picked up one of my misting extras on the table. You can still see the flower outline. One of my favoured backgrounds techniques is to emboss the paper, and ink it over. I can add visual layers
without actually adding papers.
This week's challenge at Papercraft Star - a number. So I've added a numbered mini tag and I think that's all the tag needs!
The numbers have been die cut with tape on top, and embossed with the same embossing powder. The mini tag has been edged with
gold acrylic paint for definition.

I like the way the light is reflected on the peel-off sentiment.

This tag is also playing at these challenges
Jingle belles - stick-y & sweet (peel-offs are stickers, yes?)

peg board

The Crafty Pad has a wall hanging competition, and here's my entry

Not something fancy, but a practical peg board.
It's fortunate that the competition has been extended, because I started this two weeks ago, and never got round to completing it. Just managed to this morning.

I was inspired by a peg board I saw in a magazine a few months back. And what better excuse to use the TH house die! The houses have been coloured in sharpies.

The whole thing is made from cereal boxes. I layered them for sturdiness, then they were covered with wrapping paper. The edges have been sanded for more definition. And why purple? Because it's my daughter's current favourite colour. I have attached maroon grosgrain ribbon (the fabric element) as a base for the houses, and also to tie the whole project together.

Each peg has been covered with a TH mini label, a purple strip, and topped with a flower & button. The strip has been stamped with a dovecraft stamp, stitched around the edge, distressed and inked.

I'm also entering this into Simon Says Stamp & Show Some Up-Cycling/Re-Cycling, Crafty Ribbons Challenge (anything but a card) and Dream Valley Challenges (stitching).

angel atc

Another ATC to post this morning.
~ Ü ~

This time, it's for the angelic challenge over at Wicked Wednesday. The image was printed to size, and stitched to a backing card. The cloud surrounding the image has been accented with crackle glue. There's a double ribbon strip and lacy sticker for the base. The heart has been highlighted with liquid pearl, and the top balanced off with corner peel-off.

vintage christmas in pink

Yup, a pink vintage-y Christmas creation!
~ Ü~

A slight departure from my usual browns.
~ Ü ~

This creation is a combo of several challenges. Make My Monday has a vintage/traditional Christmas challenge this week, so that was my starting point. I've used the sketch from Sketch Saturday, and a winter image for Speedy the Cat's Friends challenge. Creative Inspirations wants some stitching, and I've used two colours. A dark brown to frame the main image, and white for the pretty flowery background.
For embellishments, I've used ribbon, lace, flowers and a banner. The ribbon is white seam binding, which I've aged with antique linen distress ink, and tied a bow for Christmas Inspirations. To finish, I've added swirls, dots and glittery highlights.

vintage photo in browns

Vintage prints . . . I just love using them!
~ Ü ~

Another entry for Debbie's vintage photo challenge in Do More with Less. A perfect excuse to use this print. I have issues with the colour in photos, though. The prints are sepia, but they always take on a blue or purple tone in photos, irrespective of whether I use natural or artificial lighting.

The sketch for this card comes from CLP Challenge Blog. And the colours are from Fashionable Stamping Challenges. As I have opted for a printed image, my stamped elements are in the backgrounds and embellishments.
The background is stamped using TH Papillon stamp onto a misted piece,  followed by some inking & distressing around the edges.
The tag is cut with a CB die. It is stamped with a Viva Decor flourish stamp, and embossed in gold. Then the tag is inked to a nice dark shade, and topped with filmy ribbon.

The rose embellishment is another Viva Decor stamp. I've shaded the image with vintage photo DI, and fussy cut around it.
For more texture and interest, I added cheery lynn butterflies. They have been "coloured" in pearl pens, and topped with buttons. To finish, I added swirls and lines of dots in gloss gel.
